Co-op tower defence in your browser
The Last Maul is a co-op maze tower defence for up to 8 players that runs in a web browser. There is nothing to install and you don't need an account to play.
Start a game
Open thelastmaul.com/play and press Create Room. Every room has a 5-digit code: send it to your friends and they join with it, or they pick your game from the list of open lobbies. The host chooses the difficulty, the map layout (7 layouts) and the theme (5 worlds). When everyone is ready you get 30 s to pick a race, and the first wave comes.
Playing together
- Every player has a lane of their own and their own gold. The lanes meet in a shared valley before the goal, where anyone can build.
- Lives are shared. Each extra player adds a full set of lives to the pool (20 per player on Normal, 12 on Nightmare), and creeps get somewhat tougher in a team (up to 12% more health).
- You can send gold to a teammate, chat in the room, ping the minimap and ask the team to pause.
- Different races cover each other: one strong against flyers next to one strong against bosses is a good pair. See all races.
Not enough friends online? Add AI teammates
The host can fill empty seats with AI players, each with its own race and a strength (normal or strong). They build their own lanes, vote ready and accept gold like anyone else. Games with AI players are not ranked on the leaderboards.
The Daily Challenge
Once a day (UTC) there is a new Daily Challenge, the same for everyone: a fixed race, map and sometimes a twist to the starting gold, played solo on Normal for 30 waves. Any race can be the day's race, so it is also a free way to try the Premium races. Clear it for a medal, play every day for a streak, or take on the Heroic Daily: the same day on Hard with only 12 lives. Each day has its own leaderboard.
Long runs
A full game is 120 waves in 4 acts. Clearing Act I, Act II and Act III refills your lives. Once your run has reached Act II or later, you can pick it up again another day from the start of that act as the lobby host (continued runs are unranked).
Free and Premium
Fire, Frost and Storm and waves 1–30 (all of Act I) are free, for as long as you like. Premium unlocks the other five races and every act after the first.
What you need
A recent desktop browser with WebGL and a mouse. The game picks a graphics level for your computer and lowers it if the frame rate drops; you can set it yourself in Options.
